Who Is Porsha Williams’ Ex-Husband? All About Simon Guobadia

Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia’s marriage has come to an end.

More than a year after Williams filed for divorce from Guobadia in February 2024, the former couple’s divorce was finalized in June 2025. The same month, she told PEOPLE that they “really loved each other.”

“The hardest part is that we are in this place and that we are not friends and we don’t speak,” she said. “And I don’t know if we’ll ever hold space again together. I really hate that.”

While they were still together, the couple had a whirlwind romance. They announced their engagement in May 2021 after one month of dating and later wed in a Nigerian traditional native law and custom ceremony on Nov. 25, 2022, followed by an American ceremony.

Guobadia — the ex of Williams’ former Real Housewives of Atlanta costar Falynn Guobadia — and Williams starred together in the RHOA limited series spinoff Porsha’s Family Matters.

So, who is Porsha Williams’ ex-husband? Here’s everything to know about Simon Goubadia and his former relationship with the reality star.

He’s from Nigeria

Guobadia was born on June 2, 1964, in Nigeria. He has seven younger siblings and immigrated to the United States in 1982.

He’s the founder and CEO of a petroleum company

In 2007, Guobadia founded Simon & Company — now called Simcol Petroleum Limited Company, which supplies refined fuels in the southeast United States.

Previously, Guobadia was a CPA “focusing on accounting, audit, transactional tax consulting and software development for several global prestigious firms.” He holds a bachelor of arts degree in accounting from the University of District Columbia.

The entrepreneur also has a passion for film and has been credited as an executive producer on movies such as Jail House Dogs (2012), Ken Ford Live from the Buckhead Theatre (2013), Kill (2019) and Son of the South (2020).

He was previously married to another Atlanta housewife

Guobadia has been married at least twice, most recently to former Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Falynn Guobadia. The pair wed in June 2019 but announced their separation in April 2021.

“After a year and a half together, Falynn and I have made the mutual decision to end our marriage. Despite our willingness to be transparent, we respectfully ask for privacy at this time. Thank you,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories at the time.

The former couple finalized their divorce in July 2021, just a few months after Guobadia proposed to Williams.

He has five children

Guobadia has five children from previous relationships: Quentin, Nicole, Christian, Benjamin and Ximena.

Williams also shares a daughter, Pilar, with her ex-fiancé Dennis McKinley.

He married Williams in November 2022

Williams and Guobadia first wed during a Nigerian traditional native law and custom ceremony on Nov. 25, 2022, in front of 250 guests. The following day, the couple tied the knot again during an American ceremony, which was attended by 350 guests, including Williams’ fellow Real Housewives co-stars Kim Zolciak-Biermann, Monyetta Shaw, Kandi Burruss, Drew Sidora and Cynthia Bailey. Both ceremonies took place in Atlanta.

While the weddings celebrated different cultures, they were equally extravagant, from the bride and groom’s wardrobes to their over-the-top cakes.

While chatting with PEOPLE in March 2023, Williams described her two wedding ceremonies as “a dream come true” and a “true combining of family.” The RHOA alum went on to share that being married to Guobadia has taken their relationship to a new “level of commitment.”

Williams filed for divorce in February 2024

After 15 months of marriage, Williams filed for divorce from Guobadia. The news came shortly after rumors began to swirl about the businessman’s citizen status.

However, a source told PEOPLE that the divorce was “unrelated to recent allegations involving Simon’s past.”

After the couple’s divorce was finalized in June 2025, Williams told PEOPLE that the “complex” issues that came up about Guobadia’s legal status were what told her she was “headed down a dark road” with him.

Williams said the former couple hit their “point of no return” on Valentine’s Day 2024, after a confrontation came up when she said she wanted her own legal representation.

“I just knew I was not looking at the same person I loved before,” she said. “I could tell that he was just pretty much checked out of the relationship at that point.”

This led to Williams filing for divorce just eight days later, and she claimed that Guobadia was choosing his “old habits” over her. However, Guobadia told PEOPLE that Williams was “citing issues that happened in my past. I have spent the better part of 35 years of my life making up for it.”

Guobadia was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in February 2025 and spent four months in a detention center before returning to Nigeria.
