Brad Pitt’s take on ’90s style will surprise you.
While taking part in a LADbible Entertainment debate with his F1 costar Damson Idris, the actor, 61, shared his stance on the statement that ’90s fashion trends are better than the fads now. And although some of the Oscar winner’s most iconic looks came out of the decade, he’d disagree that they were superior.
In the clip, posted on Wednesday, June 25, Pitt reflected on his “go-to outfit” back in the day.
“Grunge hit, so you’d just picks your s— off the floor. Good flannel, some ripped jeans … done. It was just pretty simple, but then you had that preppy side which was unfortunate for all of us,” said Pitt, who added that the ’80s were entirely different. “Not many people got it in the ’80s. It took some of our best down,” he added.

In the time before the early aughts, Pitt commanded the red carpet in everything from sexy suits to laid-back jeans. The decade also saw him matching with his then-partners, Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow, who once previously matched haircuts with the actor.
These days, Pitt is coordinating with his current girlfriend Ines de Ramon, a jewelry designer, and he’s truly been having “fun” experimenting with is looks.
“I just feel like we gotta have fun, let’s have fun. There’s so much turmoil in the world, let’s have fun when you can,” he told GQ at the F1 premiere in N.Y.C. on June 16.

In the Big Apple for press, Pitt wore a variety of cool looks, including an all-blue menswear ensemble with a bold velvet blue blazer. However, for the premiere, he went for a classic suit paired with a light pink shirt that complemented the dreamy color of de Ramon’s baby blue Chanel gown.
The two also made an appearance at an F1 event in London. De Ramon sparkled in a champagne gold sequin halter gown by Fendi, while Pitt opted for a monochromatic green suit ensemble.

Speaking with PEOPLE exclusively in New York, he confirmed that it was for a new project and not a personal choice, but the transformation, nonetheless, is one he’s rocking in style.
