Prime Video’s Countdown is bringing a murder, an undercover investigation and a race against the clock to save Los Angeles to the small screen.
The thriller, which released its first three episodes on June 25, features a star-studded cast, including Jensen Ackles and Eric Dane, and delves into a covert task force’s mission to thwart a catastrophic threat.
Ackles plays Mark Meachum, who he described as a “rogue L.A. detective” who “takes risks that most people wouldn’t take” in a May 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly. Ackles noted that fans of his previous work will find Meachum to be a “familiar taste” to some of his past characters.
“I mean, I played Dean for 15 years. I loved playing that kind of a character. And I think this guy is in the vein of that, just with a completely different set of circumstances,” he said, referring to his iconic role as Dean Winchester in Supernatural.
Dane, for his part, takes on the role of special agent Nathan Blythe, with Countdown marking his first released project since publicly revealing his ALS diagnosis to PEOPLE in April 2025.
While the show’s plot is packed with tension and danger, the cast’s real-life relationships are a bit more grounded. Ackles has been married to his wife, Danneel Ackles, since 2010, while Dane and his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, wed in 2004.
From public marriages to private romances, here’s a look at the real-life relationships of the Countdown cast.

Jensen, who plays L.A. detective Meachum, and Danneel (née Harris) first met in 2006 on the set of Ten Inch Hero. The couple tied the knot on May 15, 2010, and have since welcomed three children: daughter Justice Jay and twins Zeppelin Bram and Arrow Rhodes.
Over the years, they’ve also become creative partners, co-founding Chaos Machine Productions in 2020 and opening a brewery, Family Business Beer Co., in Dripping Springs, Texas.
Jensen has gushed about his wife on Instagram, calling her a “force of nature” in a 2024 post for Danneel’s birthday. “My incredible partner in life and the one who keeps the show running,” he wrote in the caption.

Dane plays special agent Blythe, who assembles a team of undercover cops to subvert a plot to take down L.A.
In real life, Dane and his wife tied the knot in Las Vegas on Oct. 29, 2004, less than a year after meeting. They went on to welcome daughters Billie Beatrice in March 2010 and Georgia Geraldine in December 2011, with Dane telling PEOPLE in 2014 that he “never had a family, and now I do,” calling himself a “very lucky guy.”
Although Gayheart filed for divorce in February 2018, the pair remained amicable and co-parented while they were separated. “We will continue our friendship and work as a team to co-parent our two beautiful girls as they are the most important thing in the world to us,” Dane revealed in a statement to PEOPLE at the time.
Since then, the duo have been spotted vacationing together on multiple occasions, even photographed holding hands at one point. In March 2025, Gayheart requested to dismiss the divorce just ahead of Dane’s public announcement of his ALS diagnosis.
