- Meghan Markle’s lifestyle brand As ever unveils its first-ever rosé wine, launching July 1
- The release date coincides with Princess Diana’s birthday
- July 1 also marks the day Meghan and Harry first connected — on what would have been Diana’s 55th birthday, as Harry revealed in his memoir
Meghan Markle’s latest launch date for her lifestyle brand, As Ever, carries special significance.
On June 20, the Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle brand, As ever, announced the release of its first alcoholic offering: a rosé wine described as having “soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality and a lasting finish.” The brand called it a “bespoke blend” arriving just in time for summer entertaining.
The wine will officially go on sale July 1 — a date likely rich with meaning for Meghan. In addition to the launch, it marks what would have been her late mother-in-law Princess Diana’s 64th birthday — and the day she and Prince Harry first connected.
As Ever
In his memoir Spare, the Duke of Sussex revealed that July 1, 2016 — what would have been his mother’s 55th birthday — was the very day he first reached out to Meghan, after seeing a selfie of her on Instagram and asking a mutual friend for her contact information.
“Eventually, we exchanged phone numbers and mitigated the conversation over to text, going late into the night,” Harry wrote in Spare. “It occurred to me how uncanny, how surreal, how bizarre, that this marathon conversation should have begun on July 1, 2016. My mother’s fifty-fifth birthday.”
The couple tied the knot in a royal wedding on May 19, 2018, and are now parents to two children: Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.

In a March interview with PEOPLE, Meghan opened up about how her new business ventures have sparked a “honeymoon period” with Harry.
“My husband met me when I had The Tig, and I see this spark in his eye when he sees me doing the thing that I was doing when he first met me,” Meghan said, referring to the lifestyle blog she ran while they were dating.
“It’s almost like a honeymoon period again,” she continued, “because it’s exactly how it was in the beginning when he’d watch me scribbling away, writing newsletters, fine-tuning edits and just really being in the details of it. I think he loves watching as much as I love doing that creative process. It’s just been fun. This is who I’ve always been.”
